Tax Cap Study
Governor Cuomo recently passed the Tax Cap Bill, which will limit annual property tax increases to 2%. The NYSCRS will provide projections on how this budget limitation will effect various schools types across New York. Review the brief.

School Productivity Study
The Center has research underway to examine the productivity of schools across the state, looking specifically at the return on investments of per pupil expenditure. In the scope of this study, returns will be measured through student test scores and graduation rates. Review the brief.

STEM in NYS Study
With improving and increasing availability of STEM (Science, Technology, Math, and Engineering) education on the national agenda, this project will examine whether rural schools have the resources to meet a high level of excellence in such areas of study. The study will compare STEM education in different locales across the state, with special attention to course enrollments, career prospects, and career counseling services available in different locales.

Building knowledge through timely, multidisciplinary, and high quality research.

In consultation with its advisory committee, scholars, practitioners, and the State of NY, the Center examines issues important to the communities they serve. This research is stimulated through two mechanisms:

  • Request for research proposals will be developed and funded by the Center.
  • Scholars in pursuit of external funding (e.g., foundation, federal) can seek consultation, letters of support, and access to schools and data through the Center.
